1. About Optus Perks 'Play for Perks'

  • Q:What is the Optus Perks bot?

    A:A bot is a robot that delivers messages or information automatically. The Optus Perks bot is an application from Facebook Messenger that allows Optus customers to take part in challenges to win instant and big prizes.

    To get started click ‘PLAY NOW’ and start a conversation with the bot. Messages will appear in your Messenger conversation (and notifications, if enabled) on all devices logged into your Messenger account.

  • Q:What types of messages will the bot send me?

    A:Each Monday and Thursday until April 2 2018, new prizes will be released into the bot. Pick the prize you want to play for and then the bot will deliver your challenge. You’ve got 20 minutes to complete the challenge.

    If you select an ‘Instant Win’ prize and successfully complete the challenge, the bot will send you a coupon/barcode/link straight away. If you select a ‘Chance to win’ prize and successfully complete the challenge, you will go into the draw to win the prize and will be notified through the bot if you are a winner.

  • Q:Who can play?

    A:Entry is only open to Australian residents who are 14 years and over and are an eligible Optus customer with an active Optus service. Eligible Optus customers include Consumer customers, Small Business customers and Fleet customers (i.e. they are eligible to participate in the Promotion). This includes pre-paid/post-paid Optus mobile users, Optus broadband users and Optus landline customers. The following customers/customers of the following products/services are excluded from this Promotion: Optus TV featuring Foxtel satellite, Optus Thuraya, ‘Google Apps for Business’, Optus MyBiz Online™, Complex fixed services (Fleet and Micro), standalone Optus TV with Fetch, VAS services (e.g. bolt-ons, roaming), Coles prepaid customers and all Optus Corporate products. Entrants under the age of 18 must have parent or legal guardian approval to enter.

  • Q:How long does the challenge run for?

    A:It starts at 12PM AEDT 26 February 2018 and finishes at 12PM AEDT 2 April 2018.

  • 2. How to play

    Q:How do I play?

    A: Click the ‘PLAY NOW’ link or open the Facebook messenger app on your phone and search Optus Challenge Bot.

    Tap the ‘Get started’ button at the bottom of the introduction screen of the bot. The bot will start a new conversation window in Messenger. You’ll need to agree to the terms and conditions and privacy terms of the promotion. This includes sharing your Facebook public profile information.

    Once you agree you’ll be asked to enter your Optus mobile number, Optus broadband username or Optus landline number. If you enter your Optus mobile number, we’ll send you an SMS verification code to enter into the bot.

    You’ll be shown the prizes available at the time of entry and asked to select one prize you’d like to win.

    You’ll be given a challenge to either instantly win the prize or go into the draw.

  • Q:Can I connect multiple Optus services on the same Facebook messenger account to play?

    A: No, you can only connect one Optus service (mobile/broadband username or landline) to one Messenger account at a time.

  • Q:I’m having trouble verifying my Optus service. What should I do?

    A: Make sure you enter either a:
    • valid pre or postpaid Optus mobile number
    • valid Optus broadband username
    • valid Optus landline number

  • Q:What information is being shared when I connect?

    A: Your Facebook public profile details will be shared. For more details on what information is shared once you connect, see our terms and conditions:optusperks.com.au/perks4#terms

  • Q:How do I stop playing and receiving messages through this promotion?

    A:If you want the bot to stop messaging you, use the built in Facebook Messenger commands - ‘Block’, ‘Mute’, ‘Delete Conversation’ to stop playing.

  • 3. Using the Optus Perks challenge bot

  • Q:How do I win prizes?

    A:From the 26 February to 2 April 2018 there are heaps of different prizes to be won. The bot will let you know what prizes are available through the prize carousel. Pick the prize you want to play for and then hit the ‘Select Prize’ button to begin the challenge.

    Just by playing you also automatically get one entry into the major prize, a chance to win $56,000 Italian Music Yacht Trip.

  • Q:When are the ‘Chance to win’ and ‘Instant Win’ prizes released?

    A:Throughout the campaign period, the ‘Chance to win’ prizes will be available between 12PM AEDT Monday and 11.59AM AEDT Thursday and the ‘Instant Win’ prizes are available between 12PM AEDT Thursday and 11.59AM AEDT Monday (or until allocation exhausted) until 2 April 2018. In the event that all ‘Instant win’ prizes are exhausted, a ‘Chance to win’ prize will be made available.

  • Q:What is a challenge?

    A:A challenge is a simple and fun task that you need to complete within the bot in order to be eligible to win the prize.

  • Q:Who can win?

    A:All Optus customers can win instant or daily prizes.

  • Q:Who can enter the major prize draw?

    A:Any Optus customer who participates in the promotion will gain an entry into the major prize draw.

  • Q:When will I find out if I've won?

    A:Prize winners will be notified about ‘Chance to win’ prizes within 14 days. If you’re a winner, we’ll send you a message through the bot with details of how to redeem your prize.

  • Q:I deleted my conversation and lost the information about my prize wins, what do I do?

    A: Please call Optus Perks on 1300 760 014. .

  • Q:Can I use the bot for other Optus enquiries?

    A: No. The bot only delivers information the ‘Play for Perks’ challenge. For customer service requests, please contact us on 131 344. If your question is about the bot or the challenge contact 1300 760 014.

  • Q:How can I turn off message notifications and push notifications from the bot?

    A:If you wish to turn off push notifications, you can adjust the notification settings on your specific device or choose to mute notifications across all of your devices logged into Messenger.

    To mute notifications in Messenger, swipe left on the conversation and select ‘Mute’ in the Messenger app on mobile or ‘Mute Messages’ from the Actions menu on desktop. Please note that when you mute your notifications, you will continue to receive messages from the Optus Perks Messenger bot, but you will not be notified when new messages appear in the conversation.

    For more information on how Facebook allows you to ‘block’ messages or ‘mute’ your notifications, go to the Facebook Help Center./p>

  • Q:How do I remove my Optus Perks Messenger bot conversation history from my Messenger inbox?

    A:You can remove your conversation history with the Optus Perks Challenge bot from your Messenger inbox by swiping left across the conversation and selecting ‘delete’ in the Messenger app on mobile, or ‘Delete Conversation’ from the Actions menu on desktop.

    Please note, deleting a conversation from your Messenger inbox will only stop it from being displayed in your Messenger inbox. The action will not delete it from the Optus Perks bot inbox. For current instructions on how to delete your conversations in Messenger, whether on desktop or mobile, go to the Facebook Help Center for details.

  • 4. Managing your account and the 'Play for Perks' Messenger bot

  • Q:My Facebook account was compromised. What should I do?

    A:To avoid any unauthorised access to your personal information, particularly in the event you believe: (1) someone has unauthorised access to your Messenger account, a device you use to access your Messenger account; or (2) your device or other credentials have been or may be lost, stolen or otherwise compromised in any way, you should:
    • Change your compromised credentials
    • Delete your conversations with the Optus Perks bot in Messenger
    • Notify Optus Perks that you believe your account has been compromised by calling 1300 760 014.

While an Optus customer may have an active Optus service, it may take up to 7 days for your service to register in our systems to participate in the Promotion. In most instances it is 48hrs. New services will only be eligible for the Optus Perks Challenge bot when their Optus service is registered after this time.

How to Enter:To enter the Promotion, the entrant must complete the following steps during the Promotional Period:

(a) Install the Facebook messenger app on mobile or use the Messenger.com web app in a desktop browser and begin a conversation with the Optus Perks bot (must be connected through their Facebook account);

(b) Accept the Terms and Conditions for this Promotion and Promoter’s Privacy Policy (available at https://www.optus.com.au/about/legal/privacy ) as prompted, once the entrant agrees they will be asked to enter either their Optus mobile number, Optus broadband username or Optus landline number (only required during initial installation of the bot). If an entrant enters their Optus mobile number, Optus will send them an SMS verification code to enter into the bot;

(c) Either (1) for ‘Game of Chance’ Entry Periods, the entrant must select the prize draw they would like to enter from those options listed (may only select entry into one prize draw listed for that week); or (2) ii. for ‘Limited reward’ Entry Periods, the entrant will need to select one (1) of the rewards available, while stocks last (if all available rewards for a particular Entry Period are exhausted, the entrant will only have the option to enter a prize draw for that given ‘Limited Reward’ Entry Period); and

(d) Successfully, correctly and validly complete the ‘’Challenge’’ for that particular Entry Period, as prompted in the Optus Perks bot. Entrants have twenty (20) minutes to complete the Challenge from the time of selection of the applicable reward/draw. If Challenge is not completed within 20 minutes customers can start again (if this occurs during a ‘Limited Reward’ Entry Period, the entrant may need to select another reward that is available, if all units of a reward they had originally selected have been claimed). If there is a dispute as to whether an entrant has successfully, correctly or validly completed a ‘’Challenge’’, the Promoter’s decision will be final.

An entrant may complete a maximum of two (2) challenges per week during the five (5) week Promotional Period. The first challenge must be completed between Monday 12pm AEDT and Thursday 11.59am AEDT and choose only one (1) weekly draw option. The second challenge must be completed between Thursday 12pm AEDT and Monday 11.59am AEDT (the following week) and choose only one (1) limited reward option, while stocks last, once limited offer gifts for that week are exhausted, they will be awarded an extra one (1) entry into the major prize draw.

Weekly Prize Draw winners will be notified via the Facebook Messenger Chatbot, and will be asked to provide their best contact phone number and email address, within two (2) business days of the draw. The phone number and email provided will be used to contact the entrant to organise prize delivery. 7. Major Prize Draw:

a. The Major Prize Draw will take place at 02:30 pm AEST on 06/04/18 using computerised random selection.
